SUSO ART RESIDENCY

Dear friends, artists, and creatives,
We are delighted to invite you to the very first international SUSO Art Residency
– a week of creativity, inspiration, and collective artistic practice in the unique atmosphere of the island of Brač.
Who are we inviting?
All creatives open to collaboration and the exchange of ideas are welcome – especially musicians, dancers, photographers, audiovisual artists, performers, and others.
What to expect?
This is our first edition, and the content will be co-created together with the participants. We provide the platform – time, space, and food supplies for 2 meals a day – while you bring your creativity, ideas, and openness. We will begin with introductions and a collective brainstorm, spend the week experimenting, creating,
and enjoying the island, and conclude with an open stage and/or exhibition, turning Sutivan into our stage.

It’s a peaceful time of year, with warm sea, mild weather, and a special island energy that nurtures creativity.

– the beginning of a new tradition of artistic encounters.

Applications are open until September 10, 2025.
The number of participants is limited to 6 artists. Applications are open to individuals and groups of up to 3 members.

Project Theme : Transformation and Healing
How do we experience transformation and healing—
● through society, in the context of politics and today’s global events,
● through Planet Earth and the environment, the exploitation of nature’s resources,
● and within the individual, through mental, emotional, and physical processes of change?
● the impact of tourism on the island of Brač and on Sutivan.
What is the role of art in this journey?
What power does the artist hold—through medium, expression, and message to humanity?
Keywords: Planet Earth, interconnectedness, solidarity with all beings, awakening
consciousness, self-healing, transformation, unity,large and small communities, and
of the individual
Who are we?
Zemlja za nas (Earth for Us) is a community that, for the past 12 years, has been
formally dedicated to promoting ecology and ecological awareness, values, sustainability, and the self-sufficiency of people in and with nature. We strive to raise awareness of biological and cultural diversity while honoring nature, the islands, and heritage as a whole.
Through this project, our intention is to give artists the opportunity to connect and create—expressing themselves on a theme that resonates with our shared vision and goals.
The residency unfolds in Sutivan, a serene coastal village on the island of Brač.
Reached by ferry from Split to Supetar—departing every hour in summer—and a short journey of just 7 km, the island feels both near and yet worlds away.
Our home during the residency is an authentic stone house in the heart of Sutivan,
only 50 meters from the sea. Within its walls, artists will find space to rest, create,
and connect:
● Comfortable double and triple rooms, each with a private bathroom
● A spacious shared kitchen for preparing meals and exchanging stories
● A warm and inviting lounge for reflection and dialogue
● A sunny terrace with sea views, perfect for inspiration and reflection
Here, between the rhythm of the waves and the quiet charm of the village, the residency becomes not only a place of stay, but a space for transformation and artistic growth.
Given our modest budget, unfortunately we are unable to cover travel expenses. However, participants are welcome to bring a loved one, for whom free accommodation will be provided. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
